Canada West unveils championship sport dates

Dates and locations for 2023-24 championships announced.

June 21, 2023 - Student-athletes from across Canada West’s championship sports can now circle their calendars. The conference has officially unveiled its 2023-24 championship sport host locations and schedule.

The action starts with the conference’s golf teams converging on Abbotsford, B.C. for the Canada West Golf Championships, hosted by the University of the Fraser Valley from Oct. 2-3. Participants will be in for a treat with the event taking place at Ledgeview Golf Club, the home course of PGA Tour champions Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin.

Kelowna is the site for cross country runners, who will run for the podium at Mission Recreation Park on Oct. 28. The event is hosted by UBC Okanagan, who will also host the 2024 U SPORTS XC Championships at the same venue.

The excitement shifts to the province of Alberta for the next four major events. The University of Calgary will host the conference’s best swimmers from Nov. 24 to 26, as well as wrestling championships Feb. 9-10.

The University of Alberta also welcomes a pair of events to Edmonton, starting with curling championships taking centre stage Jan. 19-21. The Golden Bears and Pandas will then host the conference’s best runners, jumpers and throwers for track and field championships Feb. 23-24.

At a nationals level, the University of Manitoba is set to bring the 2024 U SPORTS Track and Field Championships to Winnipeg from March 7-9.
