RUGBY: Canada West announces 2023 Rugby 15s schedule

Can UBC extend their dynasty? A new season begins Sept. 1.

June 13, 2023 – The skill, strength and intensity of Canada West rugby officially returns this September.

The conference has unveiled its 2023 Rugby 15s regular season schedule, featuring five teams and 14 total matches.

Keep an eye on the UBC Thunderbirds as they push towards extending their recent dynasty, having already claimed the last three Canada West titles.

The action gets underway on Sept. 1 with a pair of Alberta rivals going head-to-head, as the Calgary Dinos take on the Alberta Pandas in Edmonton.

West coast foes UBC and Victoria open their campaigns on Sept. 9 in a rematch of last year’s Canada West championship game. The Lethbridge Pronghorns also open their season that day, trekking to Calgary to face the Dinos.

Regular season action rolls on through Oct. 14 before the spotlight turns to southern Alberta for the Canada West playoffs, hosted by the University of Lethbridge. Semi-final action takes place Oct. 19, with bronze and gold medal games following on Oct. 22.

U SPORTS nationals, hosted by Laval in Quebec City, QC., will cap off the season from Nov. 1 to 5.
